The Product Leader is responsible for the creation, development and execution of existing and new product lines and training services to support Learning Without Tears (LWT) business strategies. The Product Director provide strategic leadership by working with the senior management team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. 

Job Duties:                 


  • Develop Product Strategy for all products, print and digital in early learning markets.
  • Coach and mentor team members, driving best practices and behaviors.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor group standards, guidelines and objectives, and maintains other administrative processes such as planning and staffing to ensure efficient operation of group.
  • Hire, train, motivate, evaluate, and manage staff in order to ensure that employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established group objectives.
  • Collaborate with all groups with an emphasis on product and design to ensure efficient production process and on-time delivery company-wide.
  • Provide guidance on project plans and processes by which all projects and products will funnel through the production team to include tasks, milestone dates, status and resource allocation.
  • Lead production projects including planning, organizing, and monitoring the activities of teams while assuring overall adherence to requirements, schedules, budgets, and defined deliverables.
  • Direct the content development and instructional design for LWT's product lines and superior product training offerings for customers and staff.
  • Direct all aspects of graphic design projects from a creative brief to the final deliverable, including products, packaging materials, marketing collateral and online media.
  • Collaborate with cross functional groups to understand needs and deadlines for creative services in order to ensure that projects are innovative, well designed, accurate and delivered on time.
  • Inspire content, graphic design and training teams and assign internal and external resources to best meet project needs.
  • Coordinate and contract with vendors and independent consultants when projects are outsourced. Assess vendors to select the most appropriate and cost-effective solution for each project.
  • Facilitate adherence to relevant company style, brand, and quality procedures and expectations.
  • Ensure ongoing training and mastery of new software applications and printing techniques for graphic design team as appropriate.
  • Partner with Operations team to plan, develop, source and purchase materials and products to ensure products and material are developed with superior quality & safety, expedited time to market, lowest cost and reliable delivery.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with all groups to ensure their comfort in the ability to convert ideas and work into products.
  • Provide input and expertise in product and packaging design and in marketing materials and the presentation of those materials.
  • Identify and work to create value added material flow plans that will lead to excellent customer service and competitive advantage.

Required Education/Skills:


  • A. or B.S. or significant equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in product development for physical and digital products, content and trainings.
  • Experience in educational, ideally early learning, product industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong creative sense and proven innovation background.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once while completing quality work on a timely basis and within frequent, tight, deadlines.
  • Management and supervisory experience.
  • Experience and comfort working with sensitive & confidential information; exceptional ethics and judgment.
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees to enhance their skills and performance and help them develop their careers.
  • Ability to inspire and guide a team and external vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, customers and vendors.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Expertise with MS Office (Excel intensive).
  • Strong service orientation.
  • Ability to travel approximately 2 3 trips per year.
