The Instructional Designer & Curriculum Specialist is responsible for developing multiple instructional delivery modalities and content for Get Set for School | Handwriting Without Tears | Keyboarding Without Tears (GSS | HWT | KWT) programs, products, and materials transforming ideas into finished products. Guided by and in collaboration with other groups, the Instructional Designer & Curriculum Specialist will design educational products, training curricula, marketing and other materials in support of the company's overall business strategies and product development and marketing objectives.

Job Duties

  • Establish and maintain education field expertise and robust knowledge of GSS | HWT | KWT's mission, vision, curriculum, and products.
  • Make learning and teaching easy and fun by designing and developing superior educational products, training, and promotional materials that integrate GSS | HWT | KWT 's overall educational strategies and goals.
  • Lead the development of appropriate instructional methodologies and formats for existing and new programs; including determining content and delivery methods best suited to material being shared.
  • Collaborate with internal client groups as needed to generate, conceptualize, vet, and expand on new ideas and products.
  • Provide research, including educational standards and its correlation with GSS | HWT | KWT's offerings, to support product development, sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Support RFP responses and content marketing as a content and product subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with Creative Services and Materials Sourcing teams to produce final project layouts compatible with GSS | HWT | KWT standards.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal groups seeking content development services to understand needs and deadlines and to ensure that projects are innovative, well- designed, accurate, and delivered on time.
  • Lead and coordinate contractors and additional content producers throughout development of new products.
  • Deliver professional development and training presentations to enable educational professionals and others to understand and effectively utilize GSS | HWT | KWT's products.
  • Communicate complex topics clearly and effectively.
  • Manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects efficiently.


Required Education/Skills

  • A. or B.S. in Education, Instructional Design or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years' experience in educational instruction, development of educational programs, or other appropriately related experience.
  • Experience teaching language arts or elementary education.
  • Practical experience with GSS | HWT | KWT materials and curriculum preferred.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and trends in early childhood and/or elementary education.
  • Knowledge of public school systems and/or the publishing industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail. Capability to review content pre-production.
  • Experience leading teams and contractors preferred.
  • Strong creative sense.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once while completing quality work on a timely basis and within frequent, tight deadlines.
  • Experience and comfort working with sensitive & confidential information; excellent ethics and judgment.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Ability to excel in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Expertise with MS Office. Adobe Creative Cloud knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer
  • Ability to travel:
    • Approximately 8 trips per year.
    • Approximately 15 - 25 travel days per year.
    • Approximately 6% - 10% of working time.
