The Social Media Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining Learning Without Tears (LWT) social media presence, creating compelling strategy and content that drives brand awareness and thought leadership, demand generation and direct selling opportunities. 


Job Duties:

  • Build and manage LWT's social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and additional channels that may be deemed relevant.
  • Create shareable content appropriate for specific networks to spread LWT's corporate and campaign specific brand and messaging.
  • Monitor and engage in relevant social discussions about LWT, competitors, and/or industry, from existing leads and customers and new audiences.
  • Run regular social promotions and campaigns and track their success (e.g., Twitter chats, LinkedIn discussions, etc.).
  • Working with the Marketing Team, distribute content that educates and entertains LWT's audience and supports marketing goals.
  • Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from LWT's social network presence, exploring new ways to engage and identify new social networks to reach LWT's target buyers.
  • Create and manage editorial calendar for social media; lead bi-monthly meetings with Editorial and Marketing team to review editorial calendar.
  • Kick off and execute social campaigns working with Editorial, Creative and other relevant groups.
  • Engage and address questions, reviews, comments with social media followers.
  • Schedule posts and ensure all social links are tagged for tracking and analysis, including those tied to specific campaigns or meant for lead generation.
  • Manage blog content marketing and outreach strategy; integrate with social media strategy and coordinate with monthly newsletter execution.
  • Create and manage blog articles, downloads, and promotion editorial calendar.
  • Coordinate and lead monthly working group meetings with Editorial, Creative, and Production to strategize and plan blog content.
  • Blogger outreach to solicit guest bloggers and expand social and blog engagement to raise brand visibility.
  • Schedule and publish all blog content, tagging links in blog articles to properly track performance of articles.
  • Work with the Marketing Operations to resolve blog technical issues.
  • Map out annual online advertising strategy based on online revenue goals and lead acquisitions goals.
  • Research online education publications for potential advertise opportunities.
  • Assess projected ROI of potential vendors and create monthly ROI reports.
  • Integrate lead acquisition goals into online advertising strategy.
  • Create and manage online advertising editorial calendar, ensuring it is integrated into the marketing campaign calendar when possible


Required Education/Skills       


  • B.A. or B.S.in Marketing, Computer Science, Web/Graphic Design or related fields or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years related experience in social media management or content management.
  • Creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.
  • Knowledge of analytical, web design/production and optimization principles.
  • Understanding of SEO, social media, demand generation, PPC/SEM and marketing automation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once while completing quality work on a timely basis.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with staff and vendors.
  • Ability to excel in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work on PC and Mac platforms.
  • Experience with Drupal, WordPress, MS Office, Adobe Creative Design Suite, Adobe Web Premium, preferred.
  • Proficiency in using social media software that monitor social media conversations.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
